case status

You can verify the status of your immigration case online. To access the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Case Status Online, go to https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do.

The Case Status Online landing page shows other quick reference tools, such as how to change your address online; how to submit an inquiry about your case (e-Request); case processing times; and how to locate a USCIS office.

To check your case status using USCIS’s online tool, you have to have your case receipt number. This receipt number is a unique 13-character identifier that USCIS provides for each application or petition it receives, and it’s used to identify and track its cases. The receipt number consists of three letters followed by 10 numbers. For example, the letters can be EAC, WAC, LIN, SRC, NBC, MSC, or IOE. You can find your case receipt number on notices of action USCIS has sent you.

When entering your case receipt number, you should omit dashes (-), but you can include all other characters, including asterisks (*) if they are listed on your notice as part of the receipt number.

The online system will show the last action taken on your case and will let you know the next steps, if applicable. USCIS also provides helpful reminders to keep your address current and how to submit inquiries.

If you want to check an additional case, you may do so by entering a new receipt number in the “Enter Another Receipt Number” field. Remember to try the other online tools on the home page or create an account with USCIS at my.uscis.gov.

Creating an account allows you to receive your most recent case updates—including up to the last five actions on your case; simplifies case management; and simplifies access to your electronically filed applications. It is free and easy to use.

If you still have questions or concerns on any information you can check the USCIS website at uscis.gov or call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283.
